The University Of Akron Steel Drum Band

Happy new year!

Happy new year!

As we welcome the students back from winter break, we look forward to another busy semester.  We have a couple of community performances leading up to our annual spring concert on Saturday, April 22, 2023.  That concert will feature guest artist, Josanne Francis.  You can watch her play and learn more about her at josannefrancis.com.  For more information about this concert, go here.

On January 29th, we will be performing an educational concert at the Akron Civic Theater at 2:30pm.  This performance will feature a few selections from the steel band as well as music from the UA African Drumming Ensemble and UA Samba.  For more information, click here.

We are also performing at Christ Presbyterian Church in Canton for a Mardi Gras celebration.  More information to come.

Be sure to get your merch to show your support for our band.  Remember, all of our proceeds go directly to scholarships for our students.

Let’s have a great 2023!
