41st Annual Spring Concert! Streaming April 10 at 8pm!

Celebrating our 40th Anniversary for the Second time!

Last spring we unfortunately had to cancel our big 40th annivesary show, but we are back!  April 10 at 8pm is our virtual spring concert!  It will be streamed via the University of Akron School of Music website,  www.uakron.edu/music.  Program will feature music by Copland, Alexis, Gershwin, Neitzke, Kurasz, and Sharpe.  Special guests include UA faculty member, Dr. Kevin Lewis, and the Miller South Steel Band.  The concert is free, but you can support our program by purchasing our 40th Anniversary shirt, really cool Don Drumm pendants, our recordings, or any of our really cool merchandise!

    In 1983, the band’s first milestone was achieved by recording the album “Puttin’ the Shoes On!”  In January of 1987, the University of Akron Steel Drum Band became the only ensemble of its kind from the United States to travel to Trinidad and study performance, rehearsal techniques, and style from the masters of the instrument.
