Amazing concert last night. Mia Gormandy, Mario Gormandy, and Keron Valentine were absolutely amazing. Mark Halaiko did an exceptional job, especially with arrangement of "Boo Boo Man". Good job as always, Steel Drum Band. Hope to see you in Green very soon, Mark, and thanks for signing my Goobers box again.

Saw the concert with U of Akron Steel Drum Band, Mia Gormandy and her Dad last night. Enthusiastic and Fun! I did like the variety of music on the pan. Happy Birthday was great. Mia could have been better miked as we could not make out the words to the pan song. Thank you

We attended your April 23, 2005 concert and had a marvelous time! We especially enjoy the familiar tunes and the Beethoven piece was GREAT. The guest performers were phenomenal. Just a thought, for those of us who are new to Steel Drum music, next time would it be possible to have the camera focus on one of the drums and give the audience an idea of how the notes/octaves are arranged? Thank you so much for a wonderful evening!

I am teaching music iin upstate NY and just received a CD from our Arts in Education director and it is Steel Drums! It makes me think of all the wonderful steel drums I heard while at UA (class of 2001, 2004 ed major, bassoon student of Dr. Peeples). Good, hearty music to stir up grand memories!

I am trying to get a hold of some beginnner pan music. (Small ensemble/solo pan). I played backed with the American Wind Symphony with Matt Apanius (University of Akron '93) and I am looking also to get in contact with him. We have not talked in over ten years. Long time. Anyway, I teach middle school music lab and percussion just outside of D.C. so if anyone can email me the where abouts of Matt (I read he is living outside of Cleveland) and some ideas concerning some beginner pan studies at the middle school level I would appreciate it. Thanks A Lot. Bob Roche, Baylor University '98 (rroche@loudoun.k12.va.us)

My good friend, Jake and I saw you guys earlier this year. It was really great. We both are percussionists as he mentioned and enjoyed it. We both can be hard to impress after the things we have seen but you did it. A special thanks to Mark Halaiko who put on a great performance. We hope to see you back at Green High School next year. Later.

The Steel Drum Band is one of the greatest performances. I, luckily was able to go see one of the performances this year where I developed a new favorite song; Reggae Italiano and Just Now. After a spctacular performance I had this burning urge to learn to play the Steel Drums as well. So, keep up the excellent work because you never know who you could be influencing to follow in your own footsteps. The Akron Steel Drum Band seemed so alive and enthusiastic when playing that hopefully, I will be able to attend your concert at Blossom this September for my 15th birthday. Thank you for inspiring me, and leaving me thoroughly speechless with your performance. ~Aimee~

Loved your April 24 concert - we'll be back next year with more people! Might just have to go to Blossom to get a Pan "fix"! Can't get enough of your stuff. When you put together a new CD? I bought 3 at the concert, including Ray's new disc. Website is also top flight. Keep up the great work, there are many of us who enjoy your efforts and will continue to support you.

Matt: Thanks for sending the photos from the April 24 concert. What a marvelous performance! Especially enjoyed the tribute to Caroline Pardee, "Since You've Been Gone," (wish that was on CD) along with "Nessun Dorma" and "Don't Know Why" And the grand finale "Panic," with Mark on the quads. Thanks, too, for the nice tribute to Mark and all the new members. Oh, yes, and Ray Holman was super, too, his presence and performance were a joy to behold. Peace and Keep on drumming!

Hello! I am wondering if you do any private concerts. I work for the Green Family YMCA and I am scheduling summer camp activities. We are a non profit organization and I am wondering if you would be interested at all to come and do a little concert or if someone could come and play and show the kids a little bit about The Steel Drum Band. I would really appreciate it if you could let me know. I know that young children love hearing you all play, I work at EJ Thomas as well and I was at the concert in April and I loved how the little kids reacted they were all dancing around in the lobbies and I thought it would be great if you could come and play for my camp group. We run all summer and the kids are ages 4-8. Thank you so much. Katie Dudek

My husband saw a steel drum band while on a business trip years ago to Trinidad and Tobago and loved them, so when we heard about the concert being held at E J Thomas Hall, he decided we just had to attend. It was wonderful! We were so impressed--you gave a marvelous performance (we bought 2 CD's you'll be glad to know and had to listen to them right away. The Christmas one is especially awesome). We appreciated all of your hard work, although to be honest, it looked like you were having a great time! Keep up the good work. Pat Proffitt Medina, Ohio

We just heard two men from 7 Mile Isle (Joe & Matt?) play at a private party. Since there were only two performers, the music was very mellow and relaxing! I felt like I was at a resort in the caribbean sipping a pina colada!!! They were extremely talented and more than enthusiastic to share the history of steel drums as well as show us the instruments. We look forward to experiences more of this type of music in the future, and not just on vacation!
